Tomorrow is Earth Day! In celebration of this, let’s go with some green-colored awesome today.
This DIY for a pretty dang cool oilcloth storage bins. I want to make a billion of these. You could use them in the bathroom for qtips & toiletries. Organize makeup or jewelry or my nightmare of a sock drawer. I love compartments; this DIY is the perfect enabler.
This kickass little set up in particular from Paper n Stitch’s nice little green round up. The tree repurposed and given some industrial pendants and made into glorious lighting.
Fantastic green bicycle painting by Kris Atomic. The rendering seems almost tender; with warm fuzzy feelings toward the subject. It looks a bit like Dolores if Dolores were green. I would love to figure out if I can move my headlamp down like that to make room for a basket. Hrm…
Slice of Awesome, no. 16: Colorful bright & a dash of chaos!
The tissue paper poms have been pretty popular for a while now (I have 1 up in my house & have paper for 2 more, actually!), but this was the first I’ve seen of recycling a t shirt to make fabric poms! Neat!
Marc John’s cotton candy. I love how he writes about scribbles & their energy. I love that he used the simplest lines to articulate his ideas.
5 steps of the Creative Process by Christine Wong Yap from her series Positive Signs. “Positive Signs is an attempt to share my research into positive psychology with artists and art enthusiasts.” Awesome. I can’t wait to see all of them!
Well what do we have here? We have your weekly slice of awesome!
String installations by keiko sato—I love them. I’ve always enjoyed them. I think it’s something about how insignificant a piece of string is and how it can be so much more than is actually present. This piece creates a tree from a stump & string.
Beautiful pottery from Darshan Pottery. It looks like it could be the most perfect mug—lovely color palette, with a bit of heft and a comfortable curve & nicely formed handle.
The terrifically charming video above. An animated alphabet focusing on type (that appears redundant but shouldn’t be interpreted as such) set to Edith Piaf. Yes, please! (via Black*Eiffel)
This absolutely darling invitation suite for Jenna & Simon’s wedding from FPO. Pink + green, letterpress (heidelberg!<3), wren & wombat, the intense super pattern, the THANK YOU VERY MUCH note…I don’t know if there’s anything I don’t love about this!
Teux Deux. I absolutely 100% love this app for my iPhone. I had been hunting for a good to do list app for awhile and after trying a couple unnecessarily complicated pieces of crap, I found this one! Brought to us by swiss-miss.com & Fictive Kin. It’s very simple. Each day is a to do list and there is a list labeled Someday. You can add tasks, cross them off or delete them. You can access it through your phone or through a browser; this was really important to me because I hate fiddling with my phone while I’m at my desk! In the browser, you can also drag tasks from day to day. And that’s it. Perfect, simple, lovely to look at and easy to use. Win win win!
My cupcake collection is growing! I definitely have more cupcake paraphenelia than this but I was going for the 3-d/in-the-round/sculpture style focus. Maybe next time I’ll gather the flatter objects. From left to right: UO Giftmas 2009 from my mother; November 2010 using-that-gift-card-leftover-from-my-july-birthday from Pier 1, Birthday 2009 from my sister/mom, wedding gift from my best friend (they’re sale & pepper shakers!) and last but not least, 2009 from my sister in a care package a month or two after we moved. <3<3<3
