Let’s get out of my comfort zone and do a color based around red! Earth tones pair with two bright colors. The calm of the earth tones helps balance out the one-two punch with which the red & green come out swinging. Zing, pop…ahhhhhh!

Inspiration can be found anywhere. I find it a lot in clothing.
Both of which were originally inspired by the lovely Jaana-Mari on flickr in the wardrobe_remix group. My color palettes are starting to transition into autumn but still punchy enough for summer. The purples, pinks & browns are going to carry me through this change of seasons. & you can betcha that I’m going to mix that raspberry ruffle shirt with an acid green cardigan.

Fall fashion is getting me inspired already. It’s early I know but I’ve discovered that I much prefer the temperate weather of spring & fall to that of a hot, humid summer. So bring me the changing of leaves, the fading of summer, new boots and crisp afternoons.

I’ve been craving mac ‘n’ cheese (yes, that evil blue box). It’s the best comfort food I know. The color scheme has also got me thinking of goldfish swimming. Sunshine. Bicycle rides. Summer.

Tonal Tuesday: Sanctuary Sanctuary

Oh green, I think you’re my favorite even though I try not to play favorites! Think soft & cozy, warm domestic bliss. Think your own secret world. I think that these colors resonant with comfort for me is due to my childhood love of wandering in the woods by my parents house. I wasn’t really supposed to but I would pull on some boots and go off tromping through the woods. I would build little nests and move rocks, swing on branches, you know those things that children do. It was always so quiet and the light soft. I’m glad I’ve brought this palette to our living room. Cozy, calm & clean.

This is actually the color palette that we have going on in the office that my husband & I share. I, of course, needed to figure out how to wiggle some pink into the palette, most of which is over in my little corner of the world. The room is predominantly grey & red & black but with bits of pink; it helps balance out the girliness of the color with everything else. I’ll post pictures as soon as I manage to unpack my box fortress.
